MATHEW DLIWAYO in KWEKWE
KWEKWE- The trial of MDC Alliance Mbizo legislator Settlement Chikwinya and his Redcliff counterpart Lloyd Mukapiko made a false start on Monday after their lawyer was reportedly attending to another court case at the High Court.
The duo is being accused of having incited the public to embark in violence following a meeting they reportedly at Redlion Mini Bar on 12 January this year. They are being charged of attempting to subvert a constitutionally elected government.
It is the state’s case that on January 12 at around 2100hrs, Chikwinya and Mukapiko addressed a public meeting at Redlion Bar inciting the general public to embark in public violence codenamed ‘National Shutdown’.
However, Kwekwe resident magistrate Storey Rushambwa, ruled that the two will have to re-appear in court on the 10th of June 2019 as their lawyer, Wellington Davira was concurrently attending to a case at the High Court in Harare.
