BREAKING: Mazvovere declared provincial heroine



GWERU– The late Zanu PF National secretary for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in the Women’s League, Caroline Mazvovere, has been declared a provincial heroine.

Mazvovere (60) died at a private hospital in South Africa on Thursday last week.

Zanu PF Midlands provincial chairperson Engineer Daniel McKenzie Ncube on Tuesday afternoon confirmed the late Mazvovere’s heroine status and said she would be buried at the provincial heroes acre in Gweru on Friday.

“Yes. I understand the status has been given. HQ (Headquarters) will be send by email the letter to Gweru”, said Engineer McKenzie Ncube.

We forwarded our request to the party leadership yesterday that she be declared a provincial heroine. However, it did not take long for the party to accord her that status.

“This was after they looked at her curriculum vitae, which showed she was a consistent Cadre who stood by her party always. She would give good guidance to the younger generation, he said

Zanu PF Midlands Spokesperson Cornelius Mpereri thanked the President Emmerson Mnangagwa for honouring and conferring Mazvovere with the provincial heroine status.

“We would like, as Midlands Province, to thank His Excellency the President for honouring our late fellow comrade Caroline Mazvovere and conferring her with the Provincial Heroine Status. We are grateful, said Mpereri in a statement.

Mazvovere had been ill for a long time. At one time, Zanu PF Midlands secretary for security and Minister of National Security Hon Owen Mudha Ncube facilitated her treatment at a local hospital, having been in and out of hospital.

She joined ZAPU in 1976. In 1979 she got married and joined Zanu PF. She was the Branch Chair lady from 1980, district secretary for security in 1983, District secretary for administration in 1986, District vice Chair Lady in 1989.

She was elected to the position of provincial deputy secretary for administration in 1999.

She subsequently served as provincial secretary for Land Reform form and Resettlement from 2008 to 2015 and as Women’s league national secretary for Information and Communication Technology (ICT), a position she held at the time of her death.

Meanwhile the body of the late provincial heroine is expected to arrive in Zimbabwe this Thursday.
