Kwekwe General Hospital has reportedly placed several staff members in self-quarantine. This comes after one of the nurses at the public health institution developed signs and symptoms of the novel Corona virus (COVID-19), sources told midlands news.
The female adult ‘nurse’ has travel history to Portugal.
Whilst authorities at the district’s biggest medical referral institution were yet to comment on the matter, on Tuesday, Environmental Health Officer, Vitalis Kwashira confirmed during a Kwekwe District CPU meeting that the said nurse and her son had been put in self-quarantine.
Kwashira revealed that, despite showing no signs of the catastrophic Covid-19, the son had his samples taken for tests since he had been in contact with his mother.
“We have only one nurse in self-quarantine and I don’t think there’s any need for panic. We took the specimens for one nurse and no other nurse at the hospital has shown signs of Covid-19”
Kwekwe is yet to report a coronavirus case but has dealt with at least two suspected cases.
