© A Kwekwe polygamist has appeared in court facing rape charges after he allegedly connived with one of his wives to abduct and rape a 14-year-old girl.

Stephen Simbia (37) of Plot 2 Mbembeswane in Kwekwe, allegedly raped a 14-year old girl whose name cannot be published to protect her, with the assistance of his youngest wives, Sofia Ncube (22).

Ncube allegedly tarvelled to Gokwe where she abducted the girl before giving her to her husband to rape her.

The couple, who are members of the Johane Masowe Apostolic sect, were remanded in custody when they appeared before Kwekwe Magistrate Mrs Samukeliso Gumbo facing rape charges as defined in section (65(1) of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act.

Prosecuting, Mis Ethel Bhumure told the court that sometime in May this year, Ncube, who is wife number 11, went to Gokwe where she discovered the teenager walking by herself.

Ncube then allegedly lured the girl and she agreed to travel to Kwekwe.

Upon arrival, the court heard, Ncube took the complainant to Simbi’s bedroom where she locked her in.

“Simbi then grabbed the complainant, forcibly removed her clothes and had sexual intercourse with her without her consent,” the court heard.

When the complainant tried to escape, Ncube reportedly grabbed her and locked her in the bedroom before standing guard at the bedroom door while her husband raped the hapless girl.

The 14-year-old would be subjected to an untold rape ordeal in the hands of Simbi while Ncube continuously monitored her moves.

The complainant would however get a chance to make a phone call to her parents back in Gokwe.

The complainant’s mother made a follow up until she rescued her from the couple.

She quickly made a police report leading to the arrest of the couple.
