Machete wars resurface in Zhombe, 2 die

A Zhombe man Dumezweni Ncube (23) from Jembwe Village 3, Chief Mvutu is the latest fatality of machete wars in the  Midlands province.

Ncube was hacked to death on 23 June after a scuffle with his father at their homestead.

According to the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) the victim allegedly confronted his father with a machete after he had been reprimanded over his conduct when drunk.

Dumezweni’s father then tried to disarm him, unfortunately during the scuffle, he got hacked and sustained a cut on the forehead which bled profusely leading to his death.

Dumezweni’s father is in police custody on a murder charge.

In yet another tragic case in Zhombe ZRP reported that a 28 year old man died of  injuries sustained in a shebeen brawl that occurred on 17 June early morning around 0100hrs at Zhombe Business Centre.

The victim had an altercation with the accused person (name supplied) whom he allegedly assaulted him with a clenched fist.

The accused then went away for a few minutes only to return armed with a knobkerrie which he used to hit the victim on the head.

The victim sustained injuries, he was rushed  to Kwekwe General  for medical attention and later reffered to Mpilo Hospitals where his condition deteriorated leading to his death on 22 June 2020.
