Disgraced Health Minister Obadiah Moyo has been relieved of his duties as a Cabinet Minister effective today.
In a statement released to the media, Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet Dr Misheck Sibanda said Moyo has been removed from the office of Cabinet Minister with immediate effect for conduct inappropriate for a Government Minister.
The full statement dated 7 July, 2020 reads, “Please be advised that His Excellency the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Cde E.D Mnangagwa has in terms of section 340, subsection (1), paragraph (f) as read with section 104, subsection (1) of the Constitution of Zimbabwe has removed Dr Obadiah Moyo from the office of Cabinet Minister with immediate effect for conduct inappropriate of a Government Minister”.
Moyo was fingered in the Drax International case which has seen him appearing before the courts. He was remanded out of custody.
Moyo was arrested by the Zimbabwe Anti- Corruption Commission following an ex-pose of corruption in the supply of Covid-19 PPEs in which the government was duped of millions of United States Dollars.
The Drax International case has led to the arrest of its local representative Delish Nguwaya and Natpharm boses for cooking figures and failure to follow public procurement regulations.
