SHURUGWI -Tongogara Rural District Council has hailed Government for availing ZWL $3 million which will be channelled towards the health delivery system.
The council’s Chief Executive Officer, Brian Rufasha said although they target to construct three health facilities, part of the funds will cushion their declined revenue collection rate.
“We are also grateful to the devolution funds, these are also helping us because it’s coming in hand given the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Our collection rate is also down, so the coming of the devolution funds is coming to our advantage. Recently, we received ZWL $3 million from the government and we also want to channel it towards healthy delivery services like I indicated earlier on,”
he said.Tongogara RDC intends to construct three more clinics after having
made significant strides in the completion of ZWL $6.4 million Munikwa clinic in Ward 1.
Rufasha said, despite the effects of the novel Coronavirus, Tongogara RDC is targeting at constructing Totonga, Gamwa and Batanai clinics this year.
This year, government has so far released ZWL $290 million from ZWL $2.9 billion set aside for local authorities.
The provinces will use the devolution funds to develop critical infrastructure for economic empowerment of their respective communities and increase the contribution to national development.
