Nokia 1200 sells out Zvishavane serial criminals

Serial criminals who terrorised residents of Zvishavane between July and September have been nabbed by the Zimbabwe Republic Police.

The duo of Mukudzei Zhou 25 and Edwin Kazakula 28 were finally arrested when a Nokia 1200 they stole was recovered from a person who had bought it.

According to ZRP spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi the duo were arrested on  15 counts of rape, unlawful entry and theft.

“Zimbabwe Republic Police have arrested Mukudzei Zhou 25 and Edwin Kazakula 28 of Zvishavane in connection with 15 counts of unlawful entry and theft”,

“The accused persons broke into various homes during the period extending from July to September 2020”,

“They would threaten the occupants and later rob them of their electrical gadgets such as televisions, cellphones, laptops, radios, cash and various groceries” said Commissioner Nyathi.

Commissioner Nyathi said that the duo also raped a woman whom they had robbed.

“In one such incident,on 07 July the accused persons broke into a woman’s house and threatened her with a knife, raped her and stole her laptop and 8,5kilograms gas cylinder”

They later kidnapped her using her own vehicle.

“The woman 28 was then forced into her vehicle and driven towards Masvingo where she was raped again before she was given back her vehicle” said ZRP.

The reign of terror jammed to a halt when a cellphone they had stolen from the unfortunate woman was recovered from a person who had bought it.

” The duo’s luck ran out when a Nokia 1200 cellphone stolen from the woman was recovered from a person who had bought it from Mukudzei Zhou”said Nyathi.

Further investigations led to the identification of 14 other complainants and recovery of property worth US$5130 against US$10057 worth of property that was reported stolen.
