KWEKWE: Police swop on cash heist gang

The Zimbabwe Republic Police Kwekwe has nabbed an armed gang connected with a robbery that happened on Wednesday October 21 along Mbalabala-Zvishane road, midlands news has learnt.

According to the police the truck driver lost cash amounting to US$31 673.

The truck driver had stopped to carry hitchhikers who were waving him to stop.

“The victim had been waved to stop by two men pretending to be travellers looking for transport to Bulawayo before producing an unidentified pistol and a knife”‘

“The driver panicked & ran away leaving the engine running” said ZRP.

The robbers then searched the vehicle, where they discovered stashes of money in the truck and stole it.

The gang then fled the scene, their luck ran out when police in Kwekwe have swooped on them, positively identifying  them  as suspects linked to the robbery.

“Meanwhile police in Kwekwe have nabbed six suspects linked to the robbery which took place on 19/10/20” wrote ZRP.

Investigations are in progress.
