Two aides of Zanu-PF aspiring MP for Kwekwe Central Constituency, Kandros Mugabe have been arrested in Kwekwe, Friday for allegedly obstructing President Emmerson Mnangagwa’ motorcade, midlands news can reveal.
Although police could not immediately comment on the incident, reports are that Honest Diura and Nago Tadzoka were arrested Friday afternoon at around 5pm in Kwekwe’ CBD after allegedly refused to take instructions from some police details who were reportedly clearing the road for the oncoming Presidential convoy.
At the time of publishing, Diura and Nago Takodza were reportedly in police custody at Kwekwe Central Police Station and are likely to appear in court soon.
President Mnangagwa was in the Midlands Capital on Friday were he presided over the Midlands State University (MSU) graduation ceremony.
Meanwhile fresh details from other police sources say that Nago and Diura face assault charges after allegedly manhandled an unnamed police officer in a bid to repossess their motor vehicle ignition keys which the police team allegedly took with them by force after the duo had refused to comply with police orders to drive off the road.
It could also not be established as to whether the 77-year-old Zimbabwe strongman was part of the convoy at the time of the incident.
Kwekwe is Mnangagwa’s official residence and spends most of his weekends at his farm in Sherwood.
While ZanuPF provincial spokesperson, Cornelius Mpereri could not be reached to comment on the Kwekwe DCC final list of elligible candidates to run for office, Diura and Nago are reportedly campaigning for DCC posts.
