Breaking: Gweru woman kills husband by pouring boiling cooking oil all over him

Grace Mazhata a 25 year old woman from Gweru suburb of Hertfordshire, allegedly killed her husband Alouis Zaranyika (27) following a quarrel by pouring boiling cooking oil all over him, midlandsnews can report.

Police in Gweru said the accused, Mazhata was arrested in Harare where she had escaped to after allegedly committed the crime.

Police reports that the incident occurred on May 23 at Hertfordshire in Gweru, when the wife had returned home from an all night church service.

“The accused Mazhata found her husband Zaranyika not at home. He later returned home at around 2000hrs. A misunderstanding ensued between the two and the wife is alleged to have taken a pot of boiling cooking oil and poured it onto the husband.

“The now deceased sought refuge at a neighbour’s house. The suspect followed him armed with a wooden log and continued to assault him. The neighbour managed to refrain her and called Zaranyika’s workmate who later came”, said Police adding that the matter was reported to the police.

Police provincial spokesperson, Inspector, Emmanuel Mahoko said Zaranyika was taken to Gweru Provincial Hospital where he was admitted and later died on May 26.

Mahoko said Zaranyika’s body is held at Gweru Provincial Hospital Mortuary while investigations are going on.

Meanwhile police in Kwekwe are investigating a Murder case where a 61 year old man Thomas Munatsi was found dead at his house in Forestvale farming area in Kwekwe. Police says the incident occurred on May 26.

“It was reported that neighbours to the now deceased, Peter Madhibha aged 56 and Edmore Msipa aged 48, noticed from a distance that Munatsi’s main door of the house was wide open. They went to investigate and upon arrival, discovered Munatsi’s body lying facing upwards with a big stone on the chest.

” During scene attendance, it was observed that the body was lying on the ground with a big stone on the chest. It had bruises on the chest and a deep cut on the back of the head. The body was conveyed to Kwekwe General Hospital Mortuary awaiting post mortem.

“Police is calling for those with information that may assist in establishing the full circumstances surrounding the murder case as well as arrest of accused person to approach any nearest Police station”, said Police in a statement.
