Information Secretary, Nick Mangwana tweeted Tuesday night that the government has began resource mobilization towards the assistance of Doctors and other medical staffers who were left homeless after their hostel was razed down by fire in the early hours of yesterday, midlandsnews can report.

“A nurse’s and doctors cottage at Kwekwe General Hospital has been gutted by fire. Resource mobilization already underway”, tweeted Mangwana.

Meanwhile, the Kwekwe business community donated food and clothing to the affected medical practitioners.

The donations came after a call for assistance by the hospital’s authorities led by Dr Patricia Mapanda.

“Following an emergency District Civil Protection Unit (CPU) meeting, companies and the business community came forward to assist the affected families”, she said.

Businessman cum politician, Energy Dhala Ncube was one of the first people who offered a fully furnished temporary accommodation in the leaf suburb of Newton in Kwekwe for doctors and donated groceries, blankets and US$300 cash.

Kwekwe miner Tobias Kadenhe also availed his Newtown house as temporary shelter and donated US$200
