GWERU- THE Zanu PF Midlands provincial executive has approached the politburo requesting that the late Women’s league secretary for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Caroline Mazvovere be declared a provincial heroine, midlandsnews has learnt
Mazvovere died at a private hospital in South Africa last Friday
She was 60.
Zanu PF Provincial chairperson Engineer Daniel McKenzie Ncube told midlandsnews this morning that the request was sent to the politburo on Monday.
“We wrote to the party leadership yesterday (Monday) requesting that Cde Mazvovere be declared a provincial heroine. As a province, we recommend provincial heroine status. Her death is a great loss. She was a mother, unifier, leader and a teacher. That’s a loss for Midlands,” Eng Ncube said.
Mazvovere had been ill for a long time. At one time, Zanu PF provincial secretary for security and Minister of National Security Hon Owen Mudha Ncube facilitated her treatment at a local hospital, having been in and out of hospital.
She joined ZAPU in 1976. In 1979 she got married and joined Zanu PF. She was the Branch Chair lady in 1980, district secretary for security in 1983, District secretary for administration in 1986, District vice Chair Lady in 1989.
She was elected to the position of provincial deputy secretary for administration in 1999.
She subsequently served as provincial secretary for Land Reform form and Resettlement from 2008 to 2015 and as Women’s league national secretary for Information and Communication Technology (ICT), a position she held at the time of her death.
