Dendairy quit Division One

Dendairy Football Club have surrendered their ZIFA Central Region Division One slot after a season in the second tier division.

The football mother body Central Region chairman Stanely Chapeta confirmed the latest development.

“Yes, Dendairy has withdrawn and if Habane Pirates are prepared we will offer the slot to them,” Chapeta told state media.

A club official with the Kwekwe based side also told midlandsnews that they had stopped preparing for the new season last week after the company withdrew sponsorship due to financial constraints.

“It’s true we are no longer in the Central Division One and we will not even compete in Division Two because of financial issues,” a club official said.

Meanwhile, ZIFA has released registration fees for this season. Affiliation fees for newly promoted clubs are pegged at ZWL 52 800, 50.

Last season Dendairy topped the log standings for 5 weeks and there was excitement as the people of Kwekwe thought the Premier Soccer League (PSL) was bouncing back in the mining town after the relegation of Lancashire Steel in 2008.
