A staff quarters housing doctors and nurses at Kwekwe General Hospital, was in the early hours of Tuesday morning gutted by fire, damaging property worth thousands of dollars, midlandsnews can reveal.
Unconfirmed reports are that some Doctors and nurses jumped out of the building through windows as the fire spread.
Kwekwe Hospital Medical Superintendent, Dr Patricia Mapanda could not immediately reached for a comment as her mobile and office telephone went unanswered.
However insiders including some of the affected health workers confirmed the incident.
“It affected 10 health workers. We were lucky that no one was seriously injured.
“The Fire Brigade arrived at the scene more than an hour after the fire broke out and did little to help the situation”, said the insiders.
The cause of fire could also not be established at the time of publishing.
