Police in Midlands Province has confirmed the death of a 22 year old co-house owner who has been identified as Prayer Banda of Mbizo 18 in Kwekwe after he was stabbed to death by his tenant Victor Moyo (24) following an altercation over rentals, midlandsnews can report.

Provincial Police spokesperson, Inspector, Emmanuel Mahoko said the incident occurred on Monday in Mbizo 18.

“We are investigating a case of murder of a 22-year-old man who died after being stabbed once with a knife by a tenant at around 2am on Monday,” said Mahoko.

Circumstances are that the now deceased, Banda arrived home in the early hours of Monday morning. It is being alleged that Banda forced open a tenant’s bedroom door ordering him to vacate the room leading to a misunderstanding.

Police says the now deceased allegedly produced a knife in an attempt to stab the tenant before being over powered and disarmed.

Police says Moyo used the same knife to stab the now deceased leading to him bleeding profusely.

Reports are that Banda tried to seek assistance from his neighbours but collapsed and died before he could get any assistance.

The matter was reported to police and his body was ferried to Kwekwe General Hospital Mortuary where it awaits post-mortem.

Mahoko says the accused Moyo was arrested and is assisting police with investigations.

He appealled to members of the public to avoid violence adding that common sense should always prevail in determining ways of handling disputes.
